Rated power and RPM will put an engine into a general category, but it does not tell the whole story about an engine’s power delivery. How do differences in engine power curve affect towing capability? Bollard pull? Or vessel acceleration over the planing hump? This certificate course will review how a full engine power curve is needed to properly evaluate vessel performance in off-design and dynamic conditions.
