PropCad Session 6: Recreating an Existing Propeller from a 2D Drawing

In this guide, we will generate a 3D propeller CAD model from the data in a 2D propeller drawing. You will learn how to enter radial distributions and also 2D section offset data into the PropCad interface. You will generate a 3D model of the propeller and also a new 2D drawing direct from PropCad.

What You Will Learn
In this guide, you will learn about:
Critical data needed from a 2D drawing.
Data entry and plotting of section distributions and offset data.
– Creating and using *.sect files for holding 2D offset data.
– Exporting 3D CAD and 2D drawing data from PropCad.

Prerequisites
Before starting this guide, you will need:
– PropCad software installed in your computer.
– Intermediate level understanding of the program.
– Sample data for drawing.

Modules
This tutorial is divided up into 5 short modules. You must complete each module before moving to the next one.

1. Identify design data for PropCad from a 2D drawing (10 minutes).
2. Use the Builder to create an initial propeller (5 minutes).
3. Modify the radial distribution data using the drawing data (10 minutes).
4. Modify the 2D offset data using the drawing data and *.sect file (10 minutes).
5. Export a 3D CAD model and 2D Drawing (5 minutes).
